Q1: What does a found material/object communicate to you and how could you take inspiration from it?

For me, found object and material communicate to me a lot of things. The first thoughts that come to mind are the shape of the object and I write down why it interests me and what it makes me feel, then I think of its past life, where it could have been or who has looked at it before, then I look at where I found it. Does it look like the object belongs there or is it a stranger? Where does it belong. I also think of the spiritual aspect of it because I am interested in spirituality. For example, the colors on it and the spiritual meanings of the color or the object itself. Is it bad luck? Does it have any history to it? Can it be placed in my personal altar? Therefore looking at an object or material I can generate a lot of concept and ideas and get lots of inspiration basing my research on the found object.

Q2: Can the material/object be re-worked or processed to become a usable material, if so how?

I believe that 3 of my found materials are very different from each other. For example the crystal is a very hard natural material, it may be split into parts or the color or texture can be explored and manipulated using scientific techniques which I don't know much about. Maybe the crystal can be covered in fabric to capture the shape and placed on the body. However, the found cigarette cannot be reworked in my opinion as it is a very fragile object with lots of dusty little pieces inside, if I was to rework it it would fall into pieces and loose its character. The banana leaf is the most exciting one in all my found objects. Its parts can be peeled of which I could weave or knit with and explore the textures and shapes I can create using banana leaves.

Q3: What narrative can be deprived from your material/object and how can this be embedded with your current project

I believe banana leaf could be embedded in my current deconstruction project as I also thought of the idea of deconstruction whilst thinking of its structure. I could take parts of the leaf and reconstruct using methods like weaving to create new textures.
