Week 5- Monday 20th march progress tutorial with Alice

Notes from progress tutorial:

Alice suggested I watch the movie Haxxan. About witches and rituals.

Comment on my hibiscus sample: Medicinal herbs could influence dying and printing.

Literal: Look into detachable garments- early Margiela collections/ Frida Kahlo's prosthetics

Garters, fastenings, zip ties and buttons.

- Could also look at divorce ceremonies and broken objects, things that stop moving once they are detached or broken.

Im feeling very inspired after this progress tutorial. Talking to Alice made me realise there is so many possibilities within my work that I can explore. I am very fascinated by the idea of buttons and detachable garments. I am currently feeling a bit behind as I am lacking a bit in 3D development on the body. I have been very focused on exploring my materiality and creating textiles that I am now lacking in 3D. This week I want to speed up my pace more and produce more samples that I have in mind and then move straight into working on the body.

Action Plan:

- Look at where I can source vintage buttons

- Produce more knitted samples with tape and hibiscus- this was successful, develop further

- Do research on Margiela's early collections and Kahlo's prosthetics
